Hello and welcome to the first of what I hope to be a pretty regular feature in the context of the Fang of Triseria project. This is my first lore and errata post that answers submitted questions about the project, characters, and setting of the werewolf adventure serial. If you include a comment on this post or individual chapters I can start compiling another volume in the near future. Anyway, to the actual information!
Interestingly, I can’t see much in the way of corrections I need to make. Go me!
Questions and Answers: Fang of Triseria
Here are some direct questions from friends and readers about the project. Thank you for reaching out!
Question: How far back does written history go back in that world?
This one is from my friend and SuperNatPod cohost Kevin. Be sure to read his serialized novel, The Errant Apprentice over at Royal Road.
As far as written history goes, Fang of Triseria is set in the second age of Aurin, Aurin is the setting of this, and other stories I have planned. Fang & Bone is roughly 2000 years into the Second Age, while there is about 3000 years of recorded history of the First Age. What is considered the First Age definitely spans back further, yet writing and actively recording history has only been a “thing” for 5000 years.
The end of the First Age is attributed to a great war between the last dragons and demons of the Void. The transitional marker seems to be the death of “Poe the Great.”
Question: What is the creation myth?
Another question from Kevin for which I am grateful.
Different cultures in the setting have their creation myths, but there are some universal elements that we can point to in Aurin’s history that make up a kind of ur-mythos. It seems that most of this revolves around dragons as the creators of the world and the people within. The numbers vary between cultures, but breaking kayfabe here, the number is definitely four who competed for dominance.
However, some of the creation myths can vary widely. The Florians, for example, state that they are the result of a cosmic seed and originate outside of the creation of the world by the dragons. I’ve not introduced the Florians into the story of Fang & Bone, but there is some truth to their claims.

Question: What’s the origin of Fools’ Errand?
This one comes from Dusty at the SuperNatPod Discord.
Fools’ Errand is a mercenary company the has existed for about a century with a very small, very select membership of unconventional and impressive warriors, most of who specialize in certain skills.
The initial group that would make up the first generation of the guild were given a “fool’s errand” of distracting the back lines of an orcish horde that was laying siege to the city of Tradewind. Their task was to provide a distraction for a core force to emerge from the city to push back the orc forces, but the band of warriors were so effective they turned the tide of the siege before the main force was rallied.
In the time since, they have been very selective about who joins. Most cases, as one member retires, they will pass their position to a talented fighter they have encountered in their travels who fits the profile of a “Fool.”
Question: Why is Erryl known as a “barber?”
This one is from Yuuna Sakura, another member of the SuperNatPod Discord.
Erryl is considered a barber-surgeon. Before surgery was more considered a strictly medical discipline, there were people in our real history who operated in this role, sometimes even being barbers, surgeons, and dentists simultaneously. This choice in career (outside of his mercenary work) developed from his time as a battlefield surgeon. The history of barber-surgeons is quite fascinating and worth looking into.
Additionally, Erryl’s role as “the barber” is a nod to the character of Zelikman from Michael Chabon’s Gentleman of the Road, which was a major influence on me in developing this story.
Other Information
Here are some things I thought of that might be worth noting that haven’t not answered in the story so far. Mostly I am covering things directly related to Fang & Bone.
What are the ages of the primary characters in Fang & Bone?
Fang is 42 years old. He was 22 years old when afflicted by the lycanthropic curse in the Kingdom of Triseria. Erryl Nick is a little older at 47.
As for the Gorse children, Corea Gorse would be 13 and Garen Gorse would be 15, as confirmed in “Mourning Chores.”
Who are the members of Fools’ Errand?
I am playing this one a little close to my chest, but named so far include:
- Fang the Wolf – Former human, now lycanthropic warrior
- Erryl Nick – Human barber-surgeon, warrior
- Willimun Forgewright – Dwarf waggoneer, demolitions
Willimun was mentioned in the chapter “In The Doghouse.” The guild of Fools’ Errand features roughly 30 members and is largely decentralized. Members typically work in small bands, roaming for jobs and sending back funds to the guild. I plan on mentioning a little more background on the guild in later chapters.
Further Questions? Fire Away!
Thank you for indulging me and taking time to read this collection of notes evolving around my werewolf adventure serial. While I have set up a lot in the existing chapters, there is always stuff that people want to know that may not emerge organically. I really enjoy being able to tackle that errata in posts like this and I am looking forward to doing it again.
Oh, lastly, here is a new Fang illustration.

You can commission the illustrator of this image on Fiverr. Colors were handled by me.
